Help is Here

Summer of 2018

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times …

You probably heard about what happened to me and the bookstore this summer, but in case you didn’t, here it is. At the end of May, the bookstore ran out of money. Half way through June, it was clear that I wasn’t going to make rent and I had to make some very painful decisions. I had to figure out what to do with the store, the inventory, and with my tutoring. Since the store had nowhere to go, I had to close it down. That process lasted until late July, and I sold most of my stock. Since I would no longer have a place to tutor, I realized that I would have a much harder time making ends meet unless I raised my price significantly and began going to house to house. I know that tutoring is expensive and life is hard enough, so I knew that I couldn’t stay in the area to tutor. So, my wife and I decided it would be best to pack up and move out of state. We landed in Arlington, Texas and are near most of my and her family. It was a rough and abrupt transition, but I think it was the right thing to do. We have settled in and are rebuilding what we lost. It is nice, though, to not have the financial burden imposed by the store and state.
